Reflecting on an Incredible Debate Season!
The 2024-2025 debate season is now officially over and it’s time to reflect back on our amazing accomplishments. This season was nothing short of inspiring, filled with heated debates, incredible moments, and a community of volunteers who truly made a difference.
While we take a short break, we want to recognize the dedication of our volunteers. Their time, energy, and passion for youth empowerment and growth and love for the activity of debate have been essential to our success. We can’t wait to see them return in the fall, but in the meantime, let’s take a moment to celebrate everything we accomplished together this year.
Looking back, the numbers tell a powerful story about the contributions our volunteers made this season. We hosted 8 tournaments in total, each one bringing together a diverse group of debaters and volunteers. Of these tournaments, four were Tournament Takeovers, an initiative designed to connect students with professionals from various fields, such as education, law, STEM, and other industries.
Volunteers helped facilitate over 1,500 rounds of debate and dedicated around 3,400 hours to the cause, supporting over 740 students this season. That’s a tremendous amount of support, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the time and expertise our volunteers brought to the table. From keeping debates organized to mentoring young debaters, their contributions were indispensable to the success of the season.
Our volunteers hailed from incredible organizations, including JP Morgan Chase, Boston Cares, Playworks, Northeastern University, Boston University, Suffolk University, Emmanuel College, Gay for Good, and Bentley University, all working together to ensure the tournaments ran smoothly and that every debater had the best possible experience. It’s been truly heartwarming to witness the spirit of collaboration as everyone, united by the shared goal of empowering the next generation of thinkers and leaders, contributed to the success of the season.
The next tournament season officially kicks off in November, and we hope to see many familiar faces return, as well as new volunteers eager to make an impact in the debate community. There will be new ways to get involved, new opportunities to volunteer, and new chances to network with like-minded individuals passionate about debate and youth development.
Stay tuned for the release of the fall calendar with more opportunities to get involved, and thank you to all the volunteers who made this past season so memorable. Here’s to another fantastic year ahead!
