Collaborating, Leading, Learning

Join us August 2-6 for Summer Coach Camp, an opportunity to build community with other debate coaches and prepare for the upcoming debate season.

The primary role of a coach is to recruit students and build team culture. Over 90% of our coaches have no prior experience with debate; with support from the coach community and the BDL program managers, you'll learn strategies to foster an engaged debate team at your school.

As you can hear from the coaches below, Coach Camp is open to and designed for the full BDL coach community, from those brand new to debate to those who have been coaching for many years. Come experience the joy of learning as you prepare to coach your debaters in the coming year.

Camp Dates: August 2-6
Location: Online (four hours per day in two-hour sessions)
Time: 8:30am-10:30am, 11:00am-1:00pm.
Compensation:
    • BPS Teachers can earn 3 Academic Ladder Credits (formerly known as in-service credits) at no charge.
    • Coaches not earning ALCs and who attend at least three days of camp will receive a stipend of $100/day.
"The more I learn about debate, the more I realize I don't know. Coach camp is my safe haven to inquire, reflect, share, and learn with a dynamic community." - Pamela Doiley, McCormack Middle School
